The home inspector must develop an orderly method of proceding from the initial client contact to the final inspection report. For example, companies or individual inspector may collect inspection fees at different times.Some inspectors require full or partial payment prior to the inspection: others accept payment after the inspection is completed.
One realtor I spoke with told me she is always present during the home inspection and sometimes requires the inspection report as soon as inspection was completed.
Personally I would want time to return to the office, examine the photos I had taken of key areas of the home inspection, then type out the inspection report on the computer using a nice professional form before submitting final report to the realtor. I would not want the realtor present during inspection; for obvious reasons but if he or she insists on being present, be polite but stay focused on why you are there. Through personal preference and experience, inspectors can modify the process.
